HISTORIC 1910 GILA COUNTY JAIL, GLOBE, ARIZONA

149 E. Oak Street, Globe, Arizona (directly behind the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts in historic downtown Globe)

This old jail in Globe, Arizona, served Arizona Territory from 1910 until Feb. 14, 1912 — when Arizona became a state — and continued operations until 1981. The restored building is now a museum and visitor center, located adjacent to the Historic Gila County Courthouse, now housing the Cobre Valley Center for the Arts. The jail is open on the second Saturday of each month from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and by appointment. A number of special events are also held at the facility (check the link to Facebook page below). A $5 per person donation is requested.
